Old Kempton Distillery (formerly Redlands Distillery) has produced one of Australia’s few true paddock-to-bottle single malt whiskies.
This means that every ingredient and every step of the whisky production is done on-site – from collecting the water and growing the grain, to bottling the finished product.
Redlands Distillery know what day the barley was planted, harvested, steeped and floor malted, the variety of water and yeast used and barrel history.
It’s something that few other distilleries can boast but is becoming the signature of a few Tasmanian Distilleries.
Since moving from their original location, Redlands has temporarily forgone paddock-to-bottle production, however in September 2016 Old Kempton Distillery sowed their first crop of barley in their new home of Kempton and look forward to reviving paddock-to-bottle production once again when their new distillery is built.
